Business Services

Digital and publishing services for organisations

Websites, content systems, brand storytelling and publishing support for businesses, institutions and creative organisations, delivered by the same team that builds for our authors.

Introduction

The same standards, applied outside publishing

Organisations come to us for two reasons. Either they need to publish properly, reports, books, thought leadership, and want it done to trade standards, or they need the digital presence that publishing-grade work deserves.

Our development team builds production websites and platforms: accessible, fast, search-visible and maintainable by a non-technical team afterwards. Our editorial team brings the discipline of book publishing to corporate and institutional content.

We scope in writing, price by project rather than by hour where we can, and hand over documentation you can act on without us.

Typical clients

  • Independent publishers and literary organisations
  • Professional services firms and consultancies
  • Foundations, institutes and non-profits
  • Creative studios and agencies
  • Entrepreneurs launching a serious first platform

What we do

Services for organisations

01

Website development

New builds and redesigns: marketing sites, platforms, portals and ecommerce, built to production standards.

02

Digital presence

Information architecture, messaging, photography direction and the editorial voice that holds it together.

03

Content systems

Structured content models and editing workflows so your team can publish without a developer.

04

Brand storytelling

Long-form company narrative, case studies, annual reports and thought leadership, edited properly.

05

Publishing support

Turning institutional knowledge into books, guides and reports, from manuscript to print and digital distribution.

06

SEO and maintenance

Technical SEO, performance work, accessibility remediation, security updates and ongoing care plans.

How it works

How an engagement runs

    Week one

    Discovery

We learn the organisation, the audience and the constraint that actually matters, budget, deadline or internal capacity.

    Weeks one to two

    Scope and proposal

A written scope with deliverables, milestones, price and what is explicitly out of scope.

    Weeks two to ten

    Build

Design and development in reviewable stages. You see working software, not slide decks.

    Ongoing

    Handover and care

Documentation, training and an optional maintenance plan covering updates, monitoring and small changes.

In practice

What is included as standard

Accessibility

WCAG-conscious markup, keyboard navigation, contrast and screen-reader labelling built in, not retrofitted.

Performance

Core Web Vitals treated as a requirement: responsive images, lazy loading, code splitting and sensible caching.

Search foundations

Unique metadata, structured data, canonical URLs, a sitemap and a robots policy that matches your intent.

Ownership

You own the code, the content and the domains. No proprietary lock-in and no hostage hosting.

What you can rely on

Commercial clarity

Fixed scope, fixed price

Where the work can be defined, we price it as a project. Change requests are quoted before they are started.

No mandatory retainer

Maintenance is offered, not required. The site works whether or not you keep us on.

External services named

Payment providers, email delivery, analytics and domains are your accounts, in your name, with costs stated up front.

Realistic timelines

We quote dates we expect to hit and tell you early when something slips.

Questions

Questions we are asked

Can you work with our existing site rather than rebuilding?

Often yes. We audit first and recommend repair over replacement whenever repair is genuinely the better value.

Do you provide hosting?

We deploy to hosting held in your name so you retain control. We can manage it on your behalf under a care plan.

Who writes the content?

Either team. Our editors can write or edit it; if your team writes, we provide the structure and edit to a consistent standard.

What does maintenance cover?

Dependency and security updates, uptime monitoring, backups, and an agreed allowance of small content or design changes each month.
