Website development

Professional Websites Built for Authors, Publishers & Growing Businesses

We design, build and improve websites, and the digital experience around them, for authors, publishing professionals and businesses that need to be taken seriously online.

What we build

New sites, or the site you already have.

Work begins either from a blank page or from the design and content you already own.

01

From scratch

A new site planned around your work, from information architecture to launch.

02

From an existing design

Have a design, template or brand system already? We build it faithfully and responsibly.

03

Authors

Biography, catalog, individual book pages, events and reader sign-up in one place.

04

Publishers and imprints

Catalog structure, rights contact routes and submission guidance.

05

Literary professionals

Agents, translators, editors and narrators presenting services and samples.

06

Small and service businesses

Clear service pages, enquiry routing and pages that answer real questions.

07

Professional brands and organizations

Considered typography, credible structure and accessible content.

08

Portfolios and publishing projects

Galleries, case pages and project archives that stay easy to update.

Website improvement

Improving a site you already trust.

Most projects do not need replacing. They need structure, speed and clarity.

  • Visual redesign
  • Navigation and information architecture
  • Mobile responsiveness
  • Performance and loading behaviour
  • SEO structure and metadata
  • Accessibility, including keyboard and screen reader use
  • Typography and reading comfort
  • Color systems and contrast
  • Page structure and hierarchy
  • Conversion flow
  • Forms and validation
  • Content presentation
  • Technical functionality and broken-link repair

Author websites

A home for the book, and the writer behind it.

Author sites are assembled from the parts a reader, journalist or publisher actually looks for.

  • Author biography
  • Book catalog
  • Individual book pages
  • Pre-orders
  • Events
  • Newsletter sign-up
  • Media kit
  • Reviews
  • Blog
  • Contact
  • Book purchase links
  • Audiobook links
  • Social links

How it fits together

Each title gets its own page with cover, formats, languages, purchase and audiobook links, and reviews where they exist. Events and pre-orders sit alongside, so a launch does not require a rebuild. Newsletter sign-up and contact are routed to inboxes you control.

Nothing is invented: pages are built to hold real material, and stay presentable while sections are still being filled in.

Business websites

Professional sites for organisations and services.

Corporate websites

Organisation, people and service structure presented plainly.

Service websites

One considered page per service, written to be understood.

Portfolio websites

Project cases with objective, approach and outcome.

Lead-generation websites

Enquiry paths that are honest about what happens next.

Booking systems

Consultation requests routed to the right inbox with confirmations.

Contact systems

Validated, spam-protected forms with server-side checks.

Professional landing pages

Single-purpose pages for a launch, campaign or title.

Client portals

Sign-in areas where each client sees only their own material.

Development process

Eight stages, each with something to review.

You see work at every stage, and nothing moves forward on assumption.

    Stage 01

    Discovery

We review your current site, audience and goals, and agree what success means in writing.

    Stage 02

    Planning

Sitemap, page inventory, content requirements and a build schedule with named responsibilities.

    Stage 03

    Design

Typography, color, layout and component design, reviewed on desktop and mobile before code.

    Stage 04

    Development

Component-based front-end build with reusable patterns, semantic markup and responsive layouts.

    Stage 05

    Content

Copy and images placed, edited for hierarchy, with alt text and metadata written per page.

    Stage 06

    Testing

Cross-browser and device checks, forms, keyboard navigation, contrast and broken-link review.

    Stage 07

    Optimization

Image sizing, lazy loading, code splitting and font loading tuned before release.

    Stage 08

    Launch

Deployment, redirects where URLs change, analytics wiring and a short handover walkthrough.

Technology & quality

Built on standards, not shortcuts.

Technologies are chosen per project. We only list what the build actually uses.

  • HTML5 and semantic markup
  • CSS3 and Tailwind CSS
  • Modern JavaScript (ES6+)
  • TypeScript
  • React
  • Modern React frameworks, including Next.js where the project suits it
  • Responsive, mobile-first layouts
  • SEO structure, metadata and structured data
  • Accessibility practices aligned with WCAG
  • Performance optimization and image handling
  • Server-side validated, spam-protected forms
  • Analytics integration
  • Restrained, reduced-motion aware animation

Start a project

Let's Build a Digital Presence That Represents Your Work.

Tell us what exists today and what it needs to do. We reply with a written view of scope and sequence.

Send the site address if you have one, along with the pages and functionality you have in mind.

Every submission is validated on our server, checked for spam and delivered to our business inbox over HTTPS. Please do not send full manuscripts as attachments on a first contact.

Questions

Before you enquire.

Can you work from a design I already have?

Yes. We build from your design files, an existing template, or an older site you want carried forward faithfully.

Do I own the website?

Yes. Ownership of content, domain and the delivered code is documented before work starts.

Will the site be accessible and mobile-friendly?

Both are part of the build, not an add-on. Layouts are tested across desktop, tablet and phone, and pages are checked for keyboard use and contrast.

Do you offer ongoing maintenance?

Yes, as a separate agreement covering updates, content changes and technical checks.
